About the Artist
Kipton Hinsdale is a Brooklyn-born artist with a fine arts degree in printmaking and sculpture from SUNY Purchase. His New York City roots and affinity for the outdoors influence his artwork, reflecting an urban lifestyle juxtaposed with organic shapes and colors found in nature. Combining different media such as pastel, charcoal, ink, wax, and paint, Hinsdale creates multi-layered, abstract drawings comprised of textured, jagged lines and soft, gestural strokes.
The drawings speak without words, urging viewers to search deep within themselves, beckoning them to find their own understandings.
Hinsdale’s work is an homage to the old masters of abstraction, yet also reinvigorates the genre with his own action and movement, an ability unique to only Kipton Hinsdale.
